In telecommunications, scramble function is for a device that transposes or inverts signals or otherwise encodes a message at the sender’s side to make the message unintelligible at a receiver not equipped with an appropriately set descrambling device.
Scramble is normally used for analog radio. For digital radio, we normally say “encryption”.
What’s the purpose for setting scramble?
A traditional, non-scrambled radio’s messages can be easily intercepted by nearby listeners with inexpensive scanners. How to set Retevis RT29 scramble ?
Step 1: In all communication channels, first we set them to be communicable. Same frequency and CTCSS/DCS.
Step 2: We click “ Scramble Enable” in Function Setup.
Step 3: Choose the same “scramble type” to be same figure for all communication radios.
What’s the effect of the RT29 scramble?
When the other radio, who are setting with same frequency and CTCSS, they can hear your voice to be “distorted”. They can never know what you say.
